Creating Movement

$50.00

Open to all children ages 6-9

Creating movement is designed to give actors an understanding of what the body can do. From blowing like the wind to growing like a tree, creating movement will allow actors to develop ways to enhance their acting through their bodies. Discover new ways to tell a story through the art of self expression, improv, and movement.

Please note that this is not a dance course and no prior dance experience is necessary!

Within this course the students will:

  • Develop skills to tell stories through body language and movement.

  • Gain understanding of creative freedom.

  • Strengthen confidence in decision making.

  • Enhance acting through body manipulation.

This workshop runs 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, and 2/28 from 12-1 at the Bowling Green Community Center

This workshop will be led by Tim Barker.

Tim graduated from BGSU with a degree in dance education and mathematics. He puts his passion for dance education to work by training and developing young students. Notably, Tim has been working with HYT as the resident choreographer for ten years. His work and influence extends beyond the borders of HYT as well; he is also a dance instructor at Julie's Dance Studio, a drama coach for Maumee City Schools, and an independent choreographer for other theatre groups in NW Ohio. In addition to choreography, Tim serves as the treasurer on the HYT board.
