This workshop is open to students 13+

This focused intensive gives singers and performers the tools to build a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable voice. Participants will learn vocal anatomy basics, techniques for easing jaw, tongue, and neck tension, strategies for healthy belting, and guidance to caring for sick and tired voices. The course will include an introduction to SOVT and other healthy vocal warm-up exercises, practical vocal care tips for show week, and each attendee will leave with a physical toolkit to practice these exercises at home! In addition, this intensive will serve as a Masterclass. Each attendee is invited to bring a 16-32 bar cut of an audition song from their book to work one-on-one to see how these applications work in real time! If you intend to sing, please bring two copies of your sheet music as well as a karaoke track. (Participating in the masterclass is not mandatory to attend the session, but it is highly recommended.) By the end of this intensive, you’ll leave with a clear, effective toolkit to support confident and resilient vocal performance.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Understand foundational vocal anatomy and how it relates to healthy voice production.

  • Identify and release tension in the jaw, tongue, and neck to improve vocal ease and efficiency.

  • Develop healthy belting and mix-belting techniques that reduce strain and increase control.

  • Practice SOVT and targeted warm-up exercises to build flexibility, stamina, and consistent tone.

  • Apply effective strategies for caring for a sick or fatigued voice.

  • Implement practical vocal care routines to maintain vocal health during show week.

This course will take place on 1/31 from 2-5 at the Bowling Green Community Center.

This workshop capacity is 10.
